Manitoulin Island and the rest of Northern Ontario get a real winter — ground freezes deep and stays frozen well into spring, and the thaw that follows can turn a job site into standing water and soft clay for weeks. Excavation, grading and footing work all need to happen either before the frost sets in or after it’s fully out of the ground, which leaves a narrower window than most people plan for. Projects booked in fall, while the ground is still workable, get first access to that window instead of competing for it in the busy weeks right after spring thaw.

Ordering stone ahead of the season also lets us plan the delivery itself properly — checking site access for a tandem or tractor-trailer, confirming where the load gets staged, and accounting for the extra time a Manitoulin-to-Sudbury or province-wide delivery takes. Sites with tight driveways, overhead lines or soft shoulders usually need that worked out in advance, not improvised on delivery day. The same window applies whether you’re planning a shoreline wall, a stone patio or a full landscaping build — the ground doesn’t care which product you’re using, only whether it’s frozen.

None of that costs anything to figure out ahead of time. Send us your plans or a rough idea of the project and we’ll work out material volumes, delivery logistics and timing, including free technical drawings and stone samples, so when the ground opens up in spring, the only thing left to do is build.
